The independent charity organisation "Hand in Hand" supports the poorest of the poor in the underdeveloped and remote regions in the East of India. Among the many projects is the Balashram Residential School, which aims to give poor and destitute children the chance to a free twelve-year all-comprehensive education and professional training. At present 320 boys and girls, between the age of 4 and 12, are living at the state-approved Balashram Residential School. Each year, 40 new children are going to be admitted to the Residential School, which is exclusively financed by donations. "Hand in Hand" is awarded every year with the Austrian Donation Certificate.
